The title Totem makes me think of the big Totem poles next to teepees at
those rundown rest stops through the back roads of KY and TN.
Barbara, they are two different stones, a worry and a totem. The totems in
your rest stops are fake. The only authentic poles are those on the NW
coast of Washington, Canada and SW Alaska. Totem also means a creature that
serves as a spirit guide. For me salmon or at least in this poem.
