Hi Gary, nice observation - and structure too. I'm spending a lot of time
myself looking at the nexus between tanka and tan-renga. But this isn't my
kind of syntax in truth: a bit choppy for my tastes.
And as for ji-amari (character excess) and it's relationship to fixed form
(teikei) and free verse... well... how long have you got? Suffice to say
that according to Turner and Poppell it's this dialectic that animates the
universe.
But then when the Dialectics were on TV all good British children hid
behind
the sofa.
EXTRAPOLATE>>> EXTRAPOLATE++++!!!
It's amazing what you can do with a sink-plunger a dwarf and a dustbin...
and you thought California was exciting! bw, John

Winter Rose
January's bud...premature
waits February's frost...sharp destruction
early blooms..and record warmth..lie about Winter's end
*
red drop...framed by rust sepals
an odd hue... among green and gray
warm winters..bugs and slugs..summer trouble
*
new bloom attempted...in today's sun
strain and stress...evident
