Is they idea of this 'hyper-poem' , Gary, to try and write hyperspatial
psychedelia or something in the stule of TS Eliot? If so, he's a hard act to
follow, having a sprituality more bedrock than ice-cream...

Per-P, not at all. The idea is to do a poem that can be linked to Purfrock
on a web site similar to the Gandy Hyper (which I assume everyone has read)
or the two Pennine linked to Whitman or Lowell (which should be read also).

In this case, the Elliot is a very strong poem, one of the strongest; and it
may defeat some of us. In my poem, when I added the women, I likely slide
too far towards Elliot. I could cut them but am very reluctant to. A
dilemma which I will fuss with until it is time to do the site.

Regardless, the rest of images are mine from life, reading, ego and dreams.

yonder rolls [do you mean Rolls as in Royce? this bit reminds
>me of my old friend the Maharishi....]
>while the women pray words seldom heard and point heavenward
>as I dunk and sputter. [why? - did you drop a cherry in your martini and
>then accidentally swallow it, or have I missed the point?]

yonder rolls refers to the rolls up yonder as in Ol' Peter's book. And the
rest a riverside baptism, fully dunked.

Thanks for your read.

Gary
