Poets for Peace. ˇPoemas sí, balas no!

Thanks to the kind permission of the Wild Poetry staff, I'm pleased to
announce inauguration of the first Wild Hyperpoem.
What is a hyperpoem?
A hyperpoem is collective work centered around a specific poem. Each
contributor picks a line from the home work and writes a new poem using that
line as the theme or inspiration. Hyperpoems have been done by the Pennine
using Whitman and Amy Lowell and the old Gandy Creek using Yeats. (See
http://hyperpoem.homestead.com/front.html for the Yeats hyperpoem. If you
wish to join, the Yeats, pick an unused line and mail it to me. I will
update the collection when I change my homepage.)
The good folk who bring you Wild have to nothing but allow us to use their
fair name for the collection. The Dawg will collect the poems and place the
collection on the web for your continued enjoyment.
The poem selected as the base is T S Elliot's "The Love Song of J. Alfred
Prufrock" to be found on the web at http://www.bartleby.com/198/1.html.
Post the line (or portion of line) you pick in this thread. I will keep
track of the selections and let you know if there is any conflict. Though
this is a long piece (137 lines counting the Latin introduction), so there
should be room for everyone.
Workshop and post the poem as you normally would in Lyric, Critique or other
forums. When you are satisfied with your piece, send it to [log in to unmask]
marked Wild Hyper.
These things work best with a deadline, so lets work towards completion by
2/2/2. I will then code the page in February (or being lazy, maybe March.
I read a great quote from Lincoln a couple of days ago: The preacher's
sermons were so long because he was too lazy to stop writing.)
A note to the Wild providers. I would like to see everyone participate. So
MJ, Janis, Sis and the rest, if you could take a line and give us a poem
also.
I have not decided which to pick, but I leaning towards line 123: I shall
wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach. The last line is
already taken by a friend off board.
If you have any questions, please post them here so others may see the
answer.
Start you engines and do the usual most fine Wild wordsmithery.
