Yes I suppose music might be ok for some
although what goes for music now bewilders me
rap reggae Proms where men in tails
with serious faces render cacophony
to enraptured faces
times though I can't rid my head of a tune
or melody or half remembered air
not that I make them up you understand
they just get in my head from the telly
or a kids assembly or a distant radio
and then this moron sits on his stool
somewhere at the back of my head
and sings them all bloody day
but then there are times a Mozart or Tchaikovsky
or Rhakmaninov piece squeezes my heart dry
and I might sob but there are people watching
so delicate so beyond ineffable transcendental
but I could not go that way no talent for a start
not deny words that demand a forming
more words than notes to draw from surely and
I can't paint sculpt pluck a string nor strike a key
and so I'll settle for the rabble of words
command and order them where I can
Regards Arthur
