The Booker's Dilemma
The unread books
are piled high enough
to topple over and block the way
to the john.
I need to either
buy less
or read more.
If I buy less,
I will miss
education and excitement,
controversy and improvement,
adventure
and sweaty palms.
If I read more,
I will write less
for the day remains 24 hours
and I sleep more as I age.
But there is always
a third course:
To do nothing.
If I continue with my current habits,
I will need to remodel -
a new room needed to hold
new purchases -
if only so I can make it to the shower.
But if I remodel.
