This is very effective, gary, it makes me (and perhaps "the reader") aware
of half remembered incidents or non incidents about guns. You almost want to
add, yes, and I remember... picking up a gun in a farmhouse kitchen as a
child and being sharply told to put it down, it was loaded.... selling a
book on guns to a future murderer ( we stopped selling books on guns after
that) The short sentences work. it comes across somehow as if it happened to
"the reader". A good piece.
