The Turquoise Bear
Chained around my neck I wear
the totem of a rearing bear;
I walk on two legs like a man
but I have quit the human clan.
You may think you know me well
but I despise your soapy smell.
While I walk through city streets
my blood is hot with fierce dark beats.
While I talk in cultured tones,
my teeth are white from gnawing bones.
While I pay with crisp green notes,
my mind is full of severed throats.
