oops. Her name was Sara Henderson Hay, and her writing does not go back as
far as I thought. She was published by University of Arkansas. Her is the
blurb I found, "
Books in the History of Arkansas Series
Story Hour
Sara Henderson Hay, with a Foreword by Miller Williams
In Story Hour, Hay takes many well-known stories—"Jack and the Beanstalk,"
"Beauty and the Beast," "Little Red Riding Hood"—and turns them on end.
Whether quickening our memory to the darkenss only hinted at before or
highlighting the great joke we never caught, her poems always invite us back
into what Miller Williams calls "these old houses we thought we know so well."
