A book to highly recommend: An Exaltation of Forms by Annie Finch and
Kathrine Varnes. I've just started it and already I place it with How to
Read a Poem and the Poet's Companion.
Essays by various poets on the universe of forms. Well-balanced with
discussions of forms mostly ignored in books, including hi-hop. There is
disagreement among the writers, and I do not agree with all they say, but
taken as a whole, the book is great, only needing a volume 2.
And the first book I have that includes writers common to the internet (Bob
Holman for example).
I received it as birthday presents from a non-poet, so I am extra pleased.
