Hi Friends, sorry about the glitches on The Works - new year, same ****.
I've mailed our hosts and am sure it will soon be sorted.
Speaking of '****' and all sorts of rudeness/crudeness: The Works is rather
old fashioned and doesn't hold to the bogus liberal consensus whereby
telling someone to 'go **** themselves' is considered to be valid literary
criticism. Nor does The Works assume that all persons share the same mores.
I am therefore grateful to the member who chose to preface a recent
submission with a 'warning'. One of the usage protocols that has served us
well is: "When dealing with themes that some may consider unsuitable please
consider prefacing the poem with a note to that effect." The key word here
is 'SOME'. This is not a the same as 'YOU' or 'I'.
Yrs, 'Digusted' of Chipping Norton.

When dealing with themes that some may consider unsuitable please consider

When responding to the work of others please be aware that email differs
from conversation in that it is uninflected. Consequently, tone is more
easily mistaken.
