He takes his taboo cigar
bites its edge and with
a fire flick inspires
The stray cat eyeballed
the doll house a monster
from a black and white movie
I sit under the wisteria
a mirror with grapes purpling
lips smile into smoky perfume
We played cowboys and Indians
Always the Indian I won
My bike was a faster horse
We kiss cigar set aside
grapes flung beyond
our tongues entwine
The first peck on the lips
we pretended to have
a pow-wow kept our silence
Years of bygone romances
hurt hearts pale We embrace
Adult toys scatter in the bedroom
