Vagabond
Riding on a south wind, a bread wrapper
grabs ivy on a freeway embankment.
It settles between fast food bags, drink cups,
candy wrappers and soggy grocery sacks.
A half rack of empties lands on the hill
some seem afraid to leave the carton.
A shoebox clatters along the shoulder,
the weekly shopper opens to used cars.
The wrapper is grabbed by a new wind.
Note paper waves as if to say, "Please write."
