Greetings from the planet earth! hehe I've been riveted to this one for
hours. Is it coming along?
Terrie

Message to Earth

Marooned on a planet far from home,
 unknown to human kind,
we linger in the chambers of their seas,
while they look skyward filled with pleas

We watch as they direct a lens
hoping to measure what they do not know.
So many missions to outer space
so many dollars, so much disgrace

Such ironies as these we dwell upon
while observing them just out of reach.
A curious species to yearn so much
to seek the truth, then bury it once touched

Perhaps it's time for us all to ask:
who is watching whom,
who is more perverse,
and do I dare disturb the universe?

Yes, dear humans, you've seen an odd shimmer,
thought it rays of sun or moon.
But it was I, or another in my plight,
our obsidian orbs cast an eerie light.

And it was I who danced upon your moonlit shores
as it thundered and it rained,
then burrowed in your sand-filled dawn
to spawn, to spawn, to spawn!

Our hatchlings will remember all
and so bequeath you history.
there is still time to listen and to reply
to dream and perhaps sigh

It is time your people knew
your waters are home to life extraterrestrial
that gateways to other worlds lay deep
that we keep peace so you may sleep.

 So, yes--
life does hovers at your universe's edge;
a moon, and behind it, stars.
an ocean, and within it, Mars.
