Dear SPMers,
I have 3D-MRI-images of 22 patients and 21 controls. I'd like to do
a VBM-analysis and don't know what method to use.
I see two possible methods:
1. Catriona Good's opitimised method. There has been some
debate on the list about its use. I don't know whether this complex
method makes sense and is worth the effort for my small group -
Catriona Good suggests its use especially for large groups.
And is there any understandable step-by-step guide for this method
anywhere? I simply wouldn't know how to do it despite John's
repeated instructions on the list.
2. A modification of the conventional VBM-method:
normalizisation --> segmentation --> brain extraction --> smoothing.
This modified method is in my experience able to get rid of the
nonbrain-tissue.
Is the problem of normalising images before brain extraction (so
that nonbrain-tissue may have an influence on normalisation)
relevant enough to put the results of the 'modified method' in doubt?
Many thanks for your comments in advance,
Nicolas
