Hi Jason
We have wooden one here that was built inhouse using the bore, sled,
headcoil etc, dimensions of a real 3T scanner
(http://www.magres.nott.ac.uk) It has 3 speakers mounted inside capable of
generating the >120dB EPI sound levels using recordings made inside real
MR scanners. It also is equiped with the same stimulus delivery systems,
triggering, headphones, button press devices etc as used in the real
scanner and is installed in an anechoic chamber. While it doesn't produce
any MR images, it does provide a realistic imitation of the MR environment
and is used for training subjects, psychoacoustic experiments as well as
the development sound systems for MRI, such as active noise
cancellation.(see http://www.ihr.mrc.ac.uk/caf/caf.shtml#psych).
There are no blue prints for the mock scanner itself but there are a
collection of jpegs which I hesitate sending to the whole list but if you
(or anyone else) are interested then let me know and I'll email them directly.
Cheers
-Bill
