Cognitive Neuroscientist/ Programmer
The Neuropsychiatry Research Center (NRC) at the
Institute of Living in Hartford, CT was one of the
first mental health centers in the United States,
and the first hospital of any kind in Connecticut.
An imaging center with 16,000 square feet of space
in a newly renovated 1877 English Tudor building
which will house a research dedicated 3T MRI
system is being created. The center is seeking a
cognitive neuroscientist with programming skills
to aid in the development of studies involving
complex behavior in virtual reality environments,
such as driving and navigating. Experience/
interest in the functional neuroanatomy of working
memory, sustained and divided attention is
required, and an interest in psychiatric illnesses
preferred. In addition to working on ongoing
projects it is expected that the individual will
pursue his/her own research interests. The
position can be at any level, and it can be
customized to meet the needs of the individual
(e.g., tenure-track vs. hard money research track
vs. staff appointment). Our ideal candidate will
have a Ph.D. (or M.D.) in neuroscience,
psychology, or a related field (e.g.,
engineering), as well as broad experience in brain
imaging techniques. Affiliated with Yale
University School of Medicine, The Institute has
training programs in psychiatry, psychology,
social work, nursing, and rehabilitation. Located
on 35 acres landscaped by Frederick Law Olmstead,
The Institute of Living lies near the center of
Hartford, Connecticut. www.instituteofliving.org
