Subject: Nordic Conference in Sociology/ workinggroup on professions
Dear colleagues
The 21st biannual Nordic conference in sociology will be held in Reykjavik,
Iceland, 15-17.8. 2001. The theme of the conference is "The Network Society.
Opportunity or oppression?" Keynote speakers will be, among others,Manuel
Castells, Saskia Sassen, Arlie R. Hochschild and Nils Christie.
During the meeting there will be a working group focusing on the sociology
of
professions, coordinated by professor Stina Johansson, Umeå university and
Ph.D.

Deadline for abstracts is 2nd of February. Deadline for registration and
hotell
reservations is 2nd of April.
Young scholars who present their work at the meeting can apply for a travel
grant of 5000 NOK from the Nordic Sociological Association. Deadline for
