POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN MODELING, ETHICS & TECHNOLOGY
The Centre for Applied Ethics (CAE) at the University of British Columbia
invites applications for a one-year (renewable) post-doctoral research
fellow. Candidates must have completed their doctoral studies in a field
related to ethics, social sciences, computer science or engineering and have
experience in ethics and technology. Experience in robotics or agent-based
modeling will be considered valuable assets. Primary responsibilities will
be to coordinate the Robot Ethics Lab in the CAE, participate in the
Modeling Ethics and Technology Group’s research projects, and support
network and other technologies used in the Centre. Salary range is
$35,000-$45,000, and will be negotiated based on experience.
Current projects of the Modeling Ethics and Technology Group include ethics
and robotics, agent-based modeling for ethics, surveillance technology,
technology assessment, and designing network tools to facilitate
ethics-related communication.
The Centre for Applied Ethics is primarily an interdisciplinary research
centre that studies a diverse range of topics, including health care
practices and technologies, business and professional procedures, new
information technologies and environmental issues.
