Hello,
I am seeking a Ph.D. student, starting in September 2002, to join an
ongoing research project focussed on developing agent based models of
land use change in the Brazilian Amazon. The project is funded through
the National Science Foundation Biocomplexity in the Environment program
and is based at the Center for the Study of Institutions, Population,
and Environmental Change (CIPEC) at Indiana University. For more
information on this project see
http://www.cipec.org/research/biocomplexity/. This Ph.D. student would
be based in the Department of Geography at the University of Waterloo
and the Waterloo-Laurier Graduate Program in Geography (see
http://www.wlu.ca/~wwwgeog/wlgpig/tablecontents.htm ), but should expect
to spend extended periods of time working at CIPEC.
The ideal candidate will have a background in social simulation and/or
agent based modelling and a strong interest in land use change.
Interested students are invited to contact Peter Deadman for more
information.
