I am writing to tell you about the first event to be held by the new IEE
Satellite Systems & Applications Professional Network. It is a 'double
header' of a one day seminar on Personal Broadband Satellite, followed by an
evening lecture on The Galileo Project.
The seminar is taking place at Savoy Place, London, on 22nd January. It is
addressing the technology issues surrounding satellite Internet access,
multimedia applications, personal mobility, propagation issues, IP network
design and user terminal design. Given the plethora of new satellite IP
delivery systems announced over the last 6 months, this seminar promises to
give a valuable update on the key issues surrounding Personal Broadband
Satellite services. Full details can be found at:
http://www.iee.org/Events/e22jan02.cfm#prog
The lecture will address the political and technical challenges facing the
Galileo Project in 2002 as it moves from the definition phase towards the
implementation phase. Given recent developments within the UK, EU and ESA,
this lecture will be a timely update on the current situation and the way
forward. Full details are available from the above web site.
