With such a stream of good links to kidsites, makes you wonder if there
is a good 'portal' out there that brings them all together.
Would be a great resource for teachers.
If it doesn’t exist, I would be prepared to bid for a £50,000 grant from
the Wellcome Trust. With luck they will have forgotten my constant whine
of "Not another web site" when I was on the committee that considered
these applications.

The 24hour museum site (www.24hourmuseum.org.uk) has
just launched a site for children (www.show.me.uk)
which might be of interest.
Two fun American kids' science sites are www.yucky.com
and www.brainpop.com - wear your sunglasses (or
eclipse viewer) to look!
hope that helps
