Hi all
Nobody's yet mentioned the inimitable David Jones and his alter ego
Deadalus
(the mad inventor's mad inventor?), who kept New Scientst readers
entertained for years with his plausible schemes. The best of these
were
collected in two books, published , I think, by OUP:
'The Inventions of Daedalus' ca 1980, and 'The Further Inventions of
Daedalus' ca 2000.
Some time in the mid 1970s the Institute of Physics published collection
of
scientific humour, with a physical science slant, under the title 'A
Random
Walk in Science'
