Just a quick observation re the discussion that is emerging here:
Helen's original request was not for funny material with scientific
content, but for material that combines comedy and science - I
interpreted that to mean that she is interested in material intended
to be funny/comedic/sarcastic/etc., whether successful or not. Which
renders the editorial comments about the comedic value of recommended
material interesting, perhaps, but irrelevant to her research.
(Helen, please correct me if I'm wrong - I don't want to be putting
words in your mouth!!)
Personally, I'm partial to either very dark or very goofy or very
cerebral humour, but appreciate that a droll strip like Grimbledon
Down could be considered funny by some. And I certainly wouldn't
veto a reference simply because I don't like it - that would be bad
science, wouldn't it?!
And Helen, please keep us posted on the progress of your research!
