Thanks Alison & Randolph (you didn't say if jiscmail had to change
something, btw) ~ I suppose that the demon has got off my back, but having
regained access, I found (like that lion again) I had nothing to say ~ &
felt disinclined to forward the mails that were rejected, words about the
absurdity of considering that nations, as opposed to individuals, could be
"offended" by remarks about their political activities (as opposed to saying
all Ruritanians are servile redhaired bastards, which would be offensive),
words asking why one poet would describe another's words as "fascist" on
this list & escape (general) censure...And now this violent cynicism about
"yobs get crushed" in response to very considered reflections on the
question of parity of rights for different groups. What is this need to
identify, and identify others, with the actions of governments elected more
by lethargy than choice? It seems that what Jung calls "inflation" is taking
possession of this world more & more in proportion to the degree that fewer
& fewer people are able to take truly responsible decisions ~ perhaps none,
for where are the leaders or parties that a sane person could trust? What
happened yesterday in the Bundestag, with George & Gerhard swearing eternal
buddyship to roaring applause (OK, & a few old-commie protesters in the
building, demonstrating juveniles & old peaceniks outside quickly brushed
off by the massive cop presence) was just another scene from the movie
_Independence day_ showing at all local theaters near you or anybody else.
And yet the questions that Patrick & others have raised refuse to go away,
though supporters of the status quo may shush.
Der Rest ist Schweigen.
