The story of concentration camps in the Southwest and elsewhere was
floated at anti-Vietnam War demonstrations in '66-'70. I know; I passed
it along. Even the locations mentioned are the same. Before that, when
Reagan was governor of California, we liked to talk about the places he
had reserved for us freaks in Death Valley. Comparable myths have
circulated forever in the inner cities. There's an element of wishful
thinking in all this, as well as of fears.
