Rubbo had a theory about this too. Something to the effect
that the sonnets contain numerous references to Marlowe's
exile in Rennaisance Italy. He quoted examples from the
plays to support the theory too. The faked deaths, mistaken
identities etc.
What he didn't produce (in the interview) was any evidence
in Ren Italy of Marlowe. You'd think that if he was as good
as they say, there would be some record of him or his
influence there. I couldn't see him living in total
obscurity, or would that be part of the point of
dissappearing?
