I'm staggered by your ability to blame the victims. Scapegoating is
a time-honoured means of diverting public anger, and goes back to
12th century France, when local Jewish and leper communities were
blamed for the Plague, and became the focus of wild rumours about
human sacrifice etc. That's when the first progroms started, and
they proved wildly popular. Do the mechanics sound familiar?
