Anyone in Melbourne going to see Peter Porter's talk on "the survival of
poetry" on 11th September?
Curious to see what angle he'll take. It always seems to be the securely
published poets with awards and success behind them discussing such
topics. Would love to see what would happen if they put a punchy young
Aust. poet up there as well, who had turned to the alternatives - spoken
word and self-publication - and didn't even think for a moment that
there was ever a chance of their work seeing the light of day unless
under their own steam.
thoughts?
