If you want to cheer dave up, call him "me duck".
Though thinking of misiterpretable phrases, I got a very starge email
look -- ??? -- when I used the phrase "cherry picked" to an American
recently. Here it means something like to select the best and ignore the
rest -- as, e.g. a medical insurance company might cherry-pick their clients
by only signing up the young and the healthy.
But apparently it doesn't cross the Pond. I was a bit surprised at this.
(And welcome to the list!)
Cheers,
Robin
