Hi Henry
(hope you are fine and happy besides intellectualizing so neatly),
let me stand up for the surrealists, poets and painters i admire and thanks
to whom i was able to follow one of the most interesting private paths
gratifying my intuition beyond limits. They were there when i was there and
responded my questions indicating me further developments; but above all
they are cheerful (lusting in german) and as lyotard (Jean-François) said,
there is no better way to learn than by doing it with a smile on your face.
I do understand the reference is to "earthly life" but also there i have a
point to contradict M., look at dali's paintings, his reverence for past
classical painters, his dedication in attaining perfection through shades
and forms, and dali's earth talks of bread, human effort, sweat, and his
deep love of it all. the fact that he had to be a puppet on the business
scene to sell, that is absolutely something different, ...
- Mandelshtam thematized the difference (between aesthetic re-enactment and
intellectual coding) as one between acmeism and symbolism, the symbolists
responding to earthly life as "ungrateful guests, always wanting to be
elsewhere"; the acmeists celebrating "domestic hellenism", or the
integration with the world as a harmonious "oikos". -
take care,
Anny
