I've just signed a petition against the new Danish government's proposal to
refuse refugees a permanent residence permit for the first 7 years of their
asylum. This puts people in a terrible situation. For 7 years they must live
in doubt concerning their future, just so the government can rest assured
that they are not terrorists or in some other way a menace to society.
Meanwhile, our own country has bred a man who has murdered his own mother,
and along with her his wife and two stepchildren, by breaking their necks
and parting their bodies with an axe, upon which he disposed of the parts in
numerous plastic waste bags. Sometimes life is utterly and nauseatingly
incongruous.
Thanks for posting this, Alison. Gives us all something to think about.
Best,
Tess
