Lawrence,
I wasn't avoiding answering you-- I was at home earlier this evening,
having dinner, opening two presents, and watching a bit of
television. I'm sorry I kept you, apparently, waiting there by the
computer!
No, seriously, I find some of the comments in your last open to
criticism, but (and risking the appearance of coyness) I honestly
don't feel like getting into a tit for tat on this. It's too depressing,
frankly, and the time we'd spend would be better spent writing to
our local newspaper, Congressperson, or MP. Ultimately, I'm sure
you and I (and Henry and Frederick and Alison and Mark, too, and
everyone else, native or spectator, who is not on the extreme ends
of things) want something very similar to happen, if it's not too late--
justice and peace and human rights, those cliches that seem
almost impossible now.
I'm sorry if I seemed to be wagging a bony finger at you in my
previous post. Venting frustration in the wrong way... Frustrated at
the world and frustrated at being 47 years old today! Awwgh.
