Is there any record of medieval monks scoffing at the printing press? Must
have been a very brief scoff ("Oh for the good old days, when I could go
blind by candlelight")--some of the monasteries were churning out printed
books pretty early.
Did 19th century curators at the Louvre whine about photography? The only
photographer that comes to mind who might have wanted in was Nadar. Within
books was the preferred exhibition space.
When did the Louvre start buying contemporaries? Have they started?
