I was on britpo from pretty much the beginning until about a year or so ago
and I remain on as "sub voicive poetry" so that I can post messages
Sometimes I scan the digest. The interest seems to have waned if qty is
anything to go by...
When I left it was from intense irritation with someone; and I was later
persuaded that I had misread the post - I can't even remember who or what it
was
but then I had had enough already, I suppose - for a while the list was full
of newly-arriveds shouting at each other... and a lot of damage was done
When britpo started out it seemed to fill a real need; and I think it is a
need which is no longer satisfied. There seems to be a considerable
fragmentation here. My generation ages, of course...
I am inclined to wonder if this aging and fragmentation is related to the
difficulty I am finding in getting to Brit audience to attend readings by
foreigners...
something seems to have broken in our response - no one much takes any
notice of what i do so it took me a while to notice
britpo has been international in its range whilst providing a forum for
specific B & I issues
Lists like *this are very useful, but I miss the energetic periods of
britpo, not least that _and_, linking and separating Britain and Ireland

| British and Irish Poets is the only one I'm a member of, and I've even
| lost track of that: I'm not sure if it's alive or dead (and I'm not sure
| if I'm alive or dead either: my daughter Clio, who is 5, believes we are
| all in a movie and people are watching us, just as we're watching other
| people in movies). But I'd sure like to know of more lists, if there are
| any.
