Haha! That reminds me of an interview with Genet I saw a few years
ago on SBS. At first the camera focusses on Genet's face only, and
the invisible interviewer resolutely follows the thesis that Genet is
really a psychologically damaged romantic always seeking love. Genet
gets crosser and crosser, and finally he starts asking the soundman,
why doesn't he say anything? isn't the whole structure of this
interview fascist? (or something like that). The camera swings
round, and the room is FULL of people: a line of earnest young faces
palpitating with awe and terror at the Great Man. No wonder he was
angry...it was hilarious...
