these intros are fun! I liked your replies to the children's questions very
much David. And it is good to have some amplification of all the knowledge
implied from reading people's posts.
As for me
Born 1960 in Birmingham, and grew up in the Chippy on the Stratford Road in
Warwick - a Medieval tanners cottage on the outside of the town wall. I
have written poetry since I can remember, though doing a degree in Brighton
(Sussex) knocked all the confidence out of me and I had rather a hiatus
during that time. Since then I have lived in Sheffield, and in Macclesfield
for the last twelve years. I have brought up two children, done an MA in
Women's Studies, been the biggest retailer of Nicaraguan coffee in the North
of England, trained as a teacher, set up a Welfare Rights Advice clinic, and
worked teaching A Level in Stoke-on-Trent for a number of years. All the
time writing writing writing, whenever and however I could.
I have work published in a substantial scattering of mags, and two handmade,
chapbook style publications with Hot Fish Press - a publishing collective
that emerged out of Northern Dyke Writers. At present I have just finished
quite a big piece of work that is connected to my love of Lorca and the
death of my sister a year ago, which is tentatively called 'Remedies of
Water'. I live in Montreal and Macclesfield, and keep up a life in poetry
alongside my partner Erin Mouré, who is a Canadian poet.
so that's some taste of who I am!
