Hey Tess,
Thought I'd go ahead and make some alterations by way of critique, OK
I hope, I do like the way this is written, men can't do this, it seems.
Yours
Rob

Hi all,
Sorry to submit again so soon. I just found this poem while rummaging
through my archives. It was written six months ago, but I've never exposed
it to public scrutiny before, so I thought now as good a time as any. Hope
you'll bear with me.
Best,
Tess

Sacrifice
For years I looked for another face
I sought to creep beneath the skin of another woman
to somehow unzip her hide
to cover my skin
and become the shadow of another's making
Not until my grandmother's features
slid onto the linen of her death bed
and she no longer needed them to smile
not until I'd swept them under my flesh
did I see I'd had a face all along?
Her eyes sparkle behind mine
For years and daily I looked for another face
I sought to creep beneath the skin of another woman
to somehow unzip another hide
to hide my skin
to become the shadow of another's making
Not until my grandmother's features
slid onto the linen of her death bed
and she no longer needed them to smile
not until I'd swept them under the rug of my flesh
did I see I'd had a face all along
Her sacrifice shines behind my eyes
