Henpeckt Sam
Yoh mi weel stare un look ut me,
Un wunder who aw am;
Aw live ut Swiller's op i'th' fowd,
Thi co'n mi henpeck't Sam;
Yoh mi weel eye mi cooas o'er,
Un stond un shake yer yed;
Aw'm like a Boggart op un deawn,
Un it's o' throo gettin' wed.
It wer' Samu'l this, un Samu'l that,
When aw went coortin' theeor,
Aw'd best thi had on't table then,
Un cushions on mi cheeor;
But neaw, its sit ut back o' th' heawse
Ur get thi off toh bed;
Aw'm troddun deawn free morn toh neet,
Un it's o' throo gettin' wed.

My Piece is o' bu' woven eawt
My Piece is o' bu' woven eawt,
My wark is welly done:
Aw've "treadled" at it day by day,
Sin th' toime 'u aw begun.
Aw've sat i'th' loom-heawse long enough,
An' made tho' owd shuttle fly;
An' neaw aw'm fain to stop it off,
An' lay my wayvin' by.
Aw dunnot know heaw th' piece is done;
Aw'm fear'd its marr'd enough;
Bu' th' warps weren't made o' th' best o' yarn,
An th' weft were nobbut rough.
Aw've been some bother'd neaw an' then
Wi' knots an' breakins too;
They'n hampered me so mich at toimes
Aw've scarce known what to do.
