I have to correct you on this. 'Me dook' which is 'me duck' or 'ducks' is
not Midlands universal. In Birmingham it is 'me bab' or ' babs'. The nice
thing about 'me duck' is that it is totally non-sexist, blokes use the
diminutive style expression to other blokes, as well as to women, it's quite
a spectacle to see huge hulking Leicester Tigers supporters addressing each
other in that way.
As for how it came about, Gawd knows!

Thinking of generics, the Midlands universal is (dave will get this) -- "Mee
dook".
Anyone know how widely this runs? I never came on it before I moved to
Loughborough.
