Thanks Ralph - I'm glad that BUPA are easier about it, as long as a friendly consultant refers to me they will pay for consultations. I have been advised never to mention biomechanics or orthoses on my invoices. It seems that they are "Biomechanophobes" - someone must have ripped them off in the past I guess.

Geese and golden eggs comes to mind about that!

Dear Clive

The current situation is that PPP will only approve Podiatrists holding (or
have held)
an NHS Consultant appointment. They are also rigid about what they pay for,
it must be a procedure
with an OPCS code. Currently an inital consultation which is paid for is
then reclaimed by them if surgery does not result,
a very unsatisfactory situation. If you were previously paid then PPP say
this was a mistake or
it was under an old umbrella arrangement which they no longer allow.
Sorry not to be more helpful.
Best wishes

Ralph Graham

status

While I am approved for payment by BUPA for podiatry (non-surgical) in my
private practice (I never sought that by the way, it just happened
fortuitously!), and I was - I am sure - once approved by PPP, a patient
recently told me that PPP don't have me on their list now. The patient was
told by them to seek another practitioner who was on their list.

Can anyone tell me the procedure for applying for approved status with PPP?
