Simon;
Going back to your original example, "But when mets 4-5 are in OKC, can
GRF still be transferred through the CCJ? When mets 1-3 are in OKC can GRF
be transferred through the TNJ? What, if any effect will this have on the
transfer of GRF to the STJ? How would a change in the transfer of GRF to the
STJ effect motion at this joint?".
At the stage you described above, and in your last posting, the foot is
in double contact phase...both feet are on the ground. As the foot you
describe above transitions into swing phase, the lateral digits 4 and 5,
from your observations, lose contact w/ the ground. I'm not sure that it
makes a tremendouns difference at this point in the gait cycle, at least in
respect to the STJ, and any other major foot joint in the body.
I admit, I've not watched too closely the loss of pressure sub digits
2-5 at this stage. But again, I think the majority of the forces have been
distributed throughout the foot and the body. At this time the stance limb
is ending its transition into swing phase and the contact or loss of contact
of the digits probably has little to do w/ any STJ motion. Or at least it
has little if anything to do w/ any negative forces at the STJ.
