Dear All,
I have a patient with a unique condition that needs help. This is the first
time in 11 years of private practice that I have experienced this condition.
History: The patient is a 56 year female with a history of
antidepressant use by psychiatrists. She had used Cirpramil, a SSRI which
resulted in the following symptoms:
Right Foot and Left Foot feel stiff with bilateral numbness and
occasional Pins & Needles Sensation resmbling A Peripheral Sensory
Neuropathy. Radiation of the of the pain into the calf and popilital fossa.
The patient reports from relieve from application o heat packs recommended
by theneurologist. In addtion massage or physical therpay does not give the
patient relief either. However, the patient reports slight relief from a
nightly tablet of Imovane.
The Lancet reports Akathisia to be resemblance to the spontaneous condition
of rsteless legs (Ekborns) syndrome which present as an aching disocmfort
associated with restlessness of the legs and an irresistable urge to move.
It develops soon after takin antipsychotic drugs or other dopamine
antagonists such as reserpine or metroclopramide.
I wonder if the followiing treatments will help ?????
1. Opsite Flexigrid used as indicated for periperal Sensory Diabetic
Neuropathy
2. Neurobion ( A Vit B Complex Oral Agent)
