I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. We developed a defined
protocol and ran it past the RCN who felt it covered us adequately.
The protocol was agreed and signed by the HR director, medical officer and
myself.
The list was limited to Paracetamol, Stepsil, Bisodol and Simple Linctus.
All the first aiders had to recieve further training to administer these
medications.
They then had to be passed as competent by the Doctor (every 2 years)
The employee/casualty had to request it.
The employee then had to sign for it.
If you (or anyone else on thelist) would like to see the protocol we put
together give me a shout and I will dig it out.
