I wonder if anyone can advise me upon any set guidance or general practice.
When obtaining consent to obtain a report from a GP or specialist the
employee has 3 main choices under the 'Access to Records Act'. Often they
chose not to view the report prior to it being supplied to myself as this
often slows the process down, but express they would like to see a copy.
Does the report provider need to give written consent for them to see the
report?
Is it up to the employee to request to see it direct from the supplier?
I have tried to get permission to show the letter when requesting it, but
although they note the request they are not clear in giving consent when
sending the report.
I once telephoned a specialist's secretary asking for consent, and they
conveyed verbally that I could send a copy to the individual.
Thanks
