Hi Clare,
That question takes me back to my Diploma in Tropical Nursing days!!
To get the most up to date advice I would contact the laboratory at the
London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. They have a large laboratory
that gives advice to NHS Trusts across the South of England on tropical
diseases so are handling such specimens every day.
Any of the Medical Laboratory Scientific Officers should be able to help -
try Dawn Britten, Phil Broadbent, Sue Passarelli or Claire Rogers. The
school's telephone number is (020) 7636 8636.
I hope that this helps.
Best wishes,
Stu.
