Dear all,
I am presently working in Occupational Health for and aerospace/engineering
company, which means I deal with a lot of men!!
I am presently trying to veer away from the old military model of a
treatment service, so that I can use my time more pro-actively and not
reactively.
Quite a lot of my time is taken with employees calling in for minor
illnesses, when more times than not they had it before they came into work,
had it all week-end etc., and had NOT done anything about it..
I would like to put the onus back onto the employees by giving them
empowerment to look after themselves.
I do realise that things do occur at work, therefore I wondered if anyone
had set up some sort of dispenser unit (for basic medications), so that
people can self medicate.
My questions though are :- is it safe practice, has anyone set up any
policy or protocol regarding this, where did you get your information from
and is it working? OR does anyone use first aiders, and what are the
legalities of that.
Thanks,
Jackie (Occupational Health Adviser)
