Surely it must depend on the type of work the volunteer (or employee for
that matter) is undertaking to do? Why do you need this information? If it
is to protect them from being hurt or hurting others then fine - but if it
is to do with the state of their health then surely this is irrelevant as
they will not be claiming sick pay and there is no pension scheme involved.
It is all about 'risk assessment' and HQs should be directed to the risks of
the job/tasks as much as the health of the individual. If for 2 hours a week
the volunteer is going to be selling tea and cakes the risks are different
from someone who is selling newspapers and sweets! I think I might be
annoyed if I had to fill in a lengthy HQ every time I was asked to do a
volunteer stint anywhere. It is hard enough to get people to do volunteer
work let alone putting them off with lengthy forms.........
What I can tell you is that in -places I work there are different forms for
different types of work, but it is not NHS.
