NEWS RELEASE 31st January 2002
ARE YOUR EMPLOYEES SUFFICIENTLY
PROTECTED FROM WORKPLACE NOISE?
We all experience noise of one sort or another but the noise we experience
in the workplace can be the most damaging because you can't really escape
from it. New regulations are being brought in to make employers much more
responsible for noise induced hearing loss in the workplace.
To provide some much needed guidance on this subject, this month's meeting
of the
Forest Occupational Health & Safety Group at 2.00pm on Tuesday 5th February
2002 at the Ashwells Sports and Country Club, Ashwells Road, Brentwood, will
feature a major presentation by Eddie Edmunds, an occupational health and
hygiene specialist and one of the most respected experts in the field.
Talking about his presentation, Mr Edmunds said: "I will be providing
practical guidance on how to do noise risk assessments in the workplace,
advising on what should be in them and explaining how to interpret the
results. I'll also be looking at the Physical Agents (Noise) Directive
2000, which will have a revolutionary impact on noise risk assessment,
particularly in the area of management responsibilities. Most companies
will have to take a serious look at this new legislation".
The meetings are open to representatives from local businesses free of
charge. For further information about the meeting or about the Forest
Group itself, contact Margaret Steggle at the Group's Secretarial Business
Centre on 01992-814354.
The aims and objectives of the Forest Group are to improve standards in
occupational health and safety in industry and commerce, through training
and networking.
