Sue Hiorns asked about benchmarking in occupational health:
A good place to start would be with the standard for occupational health
and safety, BS 8800:1996, which according to BSI "Provides non-certifiable
guidance based on OH & S management systems, their design, implementation
and integration within the overall management system based on risk
management."
Then there are the WHO publication "The Role of the OH Nurse in Workplace
Health Management" (2001);
"Competency Standards for OH Nurses" published by the Australian College of
OH Nurses; and
"Audit Matrix for Evaluating Finnish OH Units" by Martimo K-P, Scand J Work
Environ Health 1998; 24(5): 439--443.
Good hunting,
Bashyr
